Chandigarh, June 1 – Haryana Police has arrested two people for allegedly smuggling 5.25 quintals of doda post (opium leftover) valued at around Rs20 lakh from Sirsa’s Kagdana area using a truck filled with onions. The seized narcotic substance was to be supplied in Sardoolgarh area of Punjab.

 While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that arrested accused have been identified as Sunil and Vinod Kumar, both residents of Ganeshpura Mohalla, Bhadra in Rajasthan.

  He said that during checking in Kagdana area, a truck loaded with onions came from Bhadra side. When searched, the police team found huge quantity of doda post hidden beneath onion bags. On interrogation, it was revealed that the same was to be supplied in Sardoolgarh area of Punjab.

 A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against both the accused in Chopta Police Station, Sirsa. Remand of both the accused would be sought by producing them before the court so that names of other accused involved in this network could be unearthed.

          In another case, Sirsa Police had seized 100 boxes of illicit liquor including 10 of Indian Made Foreign Liquor from a pick-up vehicle in Kalawali area. Police have registered a case under Excise Act against arrested accused Buta Singh, a native of village Sandoha, Punjab.
