Police solves robbery by arresting thief in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have solved a robbery case of around sixty thousand rupees by arresting the accused from Srinagar.

A police spokesperson said police station Maisuma received a complaint from Mohammad Shaban Wagay, a resident of Chari-Sharief, that an unidentified person robbed him of Rs 58000 at Budshah Chowk.

“Subsequently case was registered and investigation was taken up instantly,” he said, adding that some suspected were questioned during the course of the investigation.

“While working on some leads gathered from the scene of occurrence and examination of the witnesses, it came to fore a mischievous person who usually roams in the area may have committed the crime. Instantly a manhunt was launched to nab the suspect,” he said.

The spokesman said that the suspect Shamas-ud-din Beigh was apprehended on September 24.

“During sustained questioning, the suspect confessed to the commission of crime and robbed money was recovered from his rented house at Habba Kadal on his disclosure. The money was handed over to the complainant who felt a sigh of relief,” he added.
