JAMMU, DECEMBER 01: Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society in collaboration with School Education Department organized Binna Pakhi Competition today as a part of the already approved programmes of the Society.
Students from High School, Koh Potha; High School, Dansal; High School, Jandrah; High School, Jajhar Kotli and High School, Sruinsar participated in the competition.
Executive Director, Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society, O.P.Bhagat advised the students that the purpose of conducting said activities is to promote “our culture as well as transmitting our pristine legacy to the coming generation, being eco-friendly.” The beauty of the contest was that the material used for Binna and Pakhi making was based on its availability in local areas only.
The students were also provided refreshment as Dodha and Saag along with Kheer on Pattal being local cuisine to make the students relive and relish the traditional culture.
The teachers accompanying the students appreciated the efforts being made by the Tourism Department and Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society in collaboration with School Education Department to make the students aware of their history, heritage and culture and suggested for organizing such programmes on regular intervals.
