ANANTNAG, JUNE 02: District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik, today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements being made for smooth conduct of the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, ADC Anantnag, Additional SSP, heads of other security agencies, CEO, PDA, SDM Pahalgam, SEs R&B, PHE, PDD, CEO, CMO, Exen PMGSY, Chief Animal Husbandry officer Anantnag AD FCS&CA, Tehsildar Anantnag, Pahalgam, Bijbehara, Mattan, Executive Officers of Municipalities besides officers of tourism, SRTC and BSNL.
The DDC, who is also the District Yatra officer, directed the officers and Engineers of concerned departments to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place. He also called for coordinated efforts for the smooth and hassle-free conduct of the Yatra.
Threadbare discussions related to supply of drinking water, sanitation, communication, dumping of essential commodities, repairs and renovation of road en route to the holy cave by R&B Department and renovation of vulnerable spots by PMGSY, establishment of Disaster Management centres, registration of ponies, establishment of medical aid camps and construction and completion of community based toilets at transit camps were held during the meeting.
The CEO, PDA informed the meeting that fencing at Nunwan Base Camp has been completed while as work is in progress at other locations. He added that Yatra track from Pahalgam will be through by 18th of June 2018.
The engineers of R&B, PMGSY and other concerned detailed the meeting regarding the road connectivity en route to the holy cave, besides SE R&B informed the meeting that KP road has been tendered out for macadamization.
The meeting was informed that renovation work of transit camps at walnut factory Qazigund and Mir bazaar is in progress and will be completed soon. Also, all the facilities and essentials including the water, sanitation, power and food grains are well in place for the smooth conduct of the Yatra at the designated places.
SE PDD apprised the meeting that 11 KVA line up to Chandanwari shall be put in place by 15th of June, also DG sets of higher capacities will be provided at all the camp locations.
With regard to PHE sector, the meeting was informed that among others work is in progress on 5 locations, besides 2044 PPs will be installed.
CMO Anantnag informed the meeting that all the arrangements including life saying drugs, oxygen cylinders, doctors and paramedical staff will be deployed 15 days before the commencement of the Yatra, besides ISM shall establish separate camps at all the locations.
The SRTC Depot Manager informed that adequate transport facilities have been made available, besides additional 97 new buses have been arranged for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. Similarly, 6000 quintals of firewood have been made available by the forest department and dumping for the same shall be completed by 15th of June. The AD, FCS&CA informed the meeting that adequate arrangements for the food grains and other essentials have been put in place.
The BSNL authorities were directed to ensure proper and reliable communication facilities to the pilgrims.
