“While the team was checking vehicles at the checking post, a white sedan followed by two Innova vehicles were intercepted. During the search of these vehicles police recovered green polythene packets each containing fukki weighing around 1 kilogram each on an average which were packed in around 8 different sized suitcases (luggage’s) weighing approximately 323 KG’s in total. The apprehended people including 7 men and 8 women,” he said.
“During the investigation, it surfaced that basically the apprehended persons were a part of an interstate drug racket operating in states of Punjab and J&K. The group would carry along female accomplices in sedans and high end vehicles to disguise themselves as tourists. The seized fukki is sold at an average price of Rs. 2500 per kg in Punjab. Seizure of such a huge quantity of fukki and along with accused in this interstate racket, and the seizure of three high-end vehicles is expected to deter such drug traffickers,” he added.
A case FIR number 166 of 2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act 2018 stands registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up.
