DDC Shopian reviews implementation of DDB decisions

SHOPIAN, JULY 03: District Development Commissioner Shopian Gazanfar Ali today convened a meeting to review the progress of various developmental projects and action taken report on previous year’s District Development Boards decisions in the district.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Parvaiz Sajad Ganie, Chief Planning Officer, Ghulam Jeelani, Executive Engineers from, R&B, PHE, I&FC, PDD, and other concerned District/Sectoral officers of the district were present in the meeting.

On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon concerned officers to execute the ongoing works within stipulated timeframe without any delay and create durable and tangible assets of public utility for sustainable development. The officers were asked to work with added zeal and dedication and in close coordination for the development of the district.

DDC said that 11 major projects have identified to be completed on top priority basis in the district including Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar Shopian, District Hospital, Polytechnic College, Mini Secretariat Complex, Trenz-Sheikhpora Bridge, Reshnagri Bridge, Bijbehara-Shopian Road, Aglar-Shopian Road, and Augmentation of Shopian Town and receiving station Keller.

Thread bare discussion was held on the board decisions taken during 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19. The chair directed the concerned officers to implement all the board decisions on time bound manner as they are the supreme decisions and their sanctity should be upheld. He further said that any laxity in this regard shall be dealt strictly.

The DDC was informed about the progress made under different schemes and programs. He also reviewed the initiatives taken for improving skill development and capacity building of the beneficiaries under various flagship centrally and state-sponsored schemes and programmes.

The DDC reviewed the existing schemes under Roads and buildings, Public Health, Irrigation, Flood Control, Mughal Road, Mechanical Irrigation, Power Development Department and STD sectors and stressed the officers to organize training in the rural areas for motivating people living in the far-flung area to take the benefits of various schemes and programme.

The DDC said a comprehensive plan would be devised involving different departments for skill development under various schemes to create employment avenues for the unemployed youth in an integrated manner. He stressed on ensuring 100 percent utilization of funds besides implementation of all the decisions taken in the DDB meetings. He directed the concerned officers to complete the on-going projects within stipulated timeframe while ensuring quality on the ground.

DDC also directed the concerned accelerating the pace of work and emphasized on coordination between the line departments to avoid any delay in the execution of work.
