Mumbai: Drunk women arrested for attacking male police officers

The Bhayander police on Tuesday arrested three women in an inebriated state for creating a ruckus outside a mall and attacking male police officers.

According to Mid-Day, the women have been identified as Kamla Shrivastava (22), Mamta Ayyer (25) and Alisha Pillai (23), they all are residents of Mira Road. The fourth person from their group resides in Nalasopara and is currently absconding. The incident took place on Tuesday at around 1.30 am, when the group was having a fight on the road outside Maxus Mall in Bhayander. When the fight took place, bystanders stood to watch and later the women began yelling at the crowd and also misbehaved with them.

The Bhayander police later received a call complaining about the group creating nuisance in public place. A group of cops rushed to the spot and tried to stop the women from misbehaving in public. During this, the women began abusing the cops also. An officer told the leading daily, “They abused us, and refused to get inside the police van. Despite repeated warnings, the group continued to be violent and even attacked male police officers on duty.”

Even after repeated requests, the group of women refused to calm down which led to arrest of the women. The trio was arrested and booked under Sections 353, 332 and 34 of the IPC. The court has remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days.FPJ
