Four MBBS students have been suspended on Saturday from Shimla’s Indira Gandhi Medical College for ragging.

The development came after a video showing some senior students of the college allegedly harassing juniors at a freshers’ party went viral, sources said.

College Principal Ravi Sharma said that a first year student filed a complaint against the four students.

“An anonymous person sent us an audio clip that made it clear that the senior students were verbally abusive. They were suspended with immediate effect. We’ve sent the evidence to the police,” he said.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said that a first information report (FIR) was being registered against the four students on the basis of a complaint received from the IGMC principal.

“The case will be thoroughly investigated after registering the FIR at concerned Sadar police station under relevant sections,” he said. With PTI
