Chandigarh, December 2: Five persons, including three juveniles, have been arrested for vehicle thefts and burglaries at five shops in Ram Darbar, Chandigarh. Two cars, two Activa scooters, an auto and goods have been recovered from them.
The suspects are Gopal, alias Vicky (23), a resident of Panchkula, and Basant Kumar (18), a resident of Mani Majra. Three juveniles were also part of their gang.
The police said a Maruti car, owned by Bharat Choudhary, was stolen on November 5, while a Zen car, owned by Sunil Kumar, was stolen on November 30. Both vehicles were stolen from the Modern Housing Complex at Mani Majra.
The police said on a tip-off, one of the juveniles was arrested from near the Indira Colony sports complex while driving a stolen Maruti car. After interrogation, he was sent to Juvenile Home in Sector 25.
The juvenile disclosed the names of his accomplices following which two suspects, Gopal and Basant, were arrested from the parking of Shivalik Garden. The police recovered a stolen Zen car from their possession.
