The Metrological Department has forecasted rain for the next 48 hours with light to moderate rain all over Jammu region. There is equal possibility of heavy rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorm in hilly areas causing flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas of Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi, the department said on Tuesday.
As such, people of Rajouri district, especially those living in hilly areas have been advised by the district administration to exercise precautions and remain indoors in affected areas to avoid any untoward incident and also be informed that the electricity supply may be curtailed in the district as a precautionary measure to avoid any loss of life.
The people have further been advised to avoid traveling unnecessarily and commuters/travellers have been asked to take utmost precautions and avoid traveling during night hours.
Established joint control rooms for disaster management may be contacted at District and tehsil level in case of any emergency.
