Police cracked theft case

During the intervening night of 31st July and 1st August 2018, some unknown thieves entered into the premises of Hazrat Mir Amir Kabir Masjid Shey, broke open the locker and decamped with all the cash available in the locker consequent whereupon Case FIR No. 91/2018 U/S 379 RPC was registered in P/S Leh through PP Choglamsar and investigation started. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case involving theft in a mosque and the public interest therein, SSP Leh immediately directed the concerned officers to put in all efforts and crack the case. Nakas were soon laid and suspects were rounded up which led to the arrest of three persons who confessed to their involvement in the case and upon their disclosure, a stolen sum of Rs 251630/- was recovered from near Hazrat Mir Kabir Masjid Shey concealed in a bag and hidden in the bushes. All the three accused are juveniles and hence the case has been handed over to Distt Juvenile Officer for further investigation. The locals of the area have appreciated the role of Police in solving the theft case within no time. The case has been cracked by SI Rigzen Gurmet, IC PP Choglamsar under the supervision of Insp Tsewang Dorjay, SHO P/S Leh and Sh. Farooq Qaiser, KPS, Addl. SP Leh under the overall guidance of Ms. Sargun Shukla, IPS, SSP Leh.
