Clashes erupted in Shangerpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday after forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO).
A witness said that youth took to streets and clashed with the forces after the CASO was launched on Saturday evening. The forces responded by firing teargas, he said.
Jammu & Kashmir police, Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had jointly launched the operation.
An official said that the search operation was launched after “specific inputs” about the presence of militants there.
The operation was on when this report was being filed.
