The Shimla hotel industry is hopeful of good tourist inflow in the wake of the coming Durga Puja season.
Owing to heavy rains and frequent landslides this monsoon, the tourist inflow remained very poor and hoteliers suffered huge losses.
President of the Tourism Industry Stakeholders’ Association MK Seth on Sunday said since the monsoon was withdrawing, roads blocked due to landslides had been cleared and water supply was normal, they were hoping that the tourist influx would increase in the coming days, especially during Durga Puja vacation.
He said the parking issue in the capital city had resolved to some extent. There was no scarcity of water in Shimla because of good rains.
He said hoteliers had made adequate arrangements to provide water supply to their guests in view of the fact that tourists from Bengal came to Shimla during Durga Puja holidays.
“Our association has decided to design a poster highlighting the places of tourist interest in and around Shimla, which can be displayed at the reception of hotels for the benefit of tourists,” he said.
