Draft Master Plan for Ramban town reviewed

RAMBAN, August 04: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat convened a meeting with various stakeholders to discuss the draft Master Plan for holistic development of Ramban town here today.

The meeting was attended by SSP, Ramban, Mohan Lal, ADDC, Ravinder Sadhu, ADC Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh, ACR Vevaik Puri, CPO Uttam Singh, Chief Town Planner Jammu, Iftikhar Ahmed Hakim, Town Planner, Rajeev Barol, XENs of PHE, REW, Town Planning consultants, district officers, Officers of Army and CRPF.

It was informed that the proposed draft has been divided into three parts and four phases for the period 2017 to 2035 to develop the town on modern lines.

DDC sought suggestions from all stakeholders and stressed on their active participation in finalizing the proposed draft for holistic sustainable development of Ramban town. He assured that detailed deliberations shall be done on other aspects before finalizing the draft.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC directed the consultants to formulate master plan as per aspirations and requirements of residents of Ramban for coming decades besides keeping in view topography of the local planning area and proposed land use plan areas, municipal area besides including Seri, Pernote, Govindpura Maitra, Karol, Neera, Tatarsoo and Chanderkote to be planned in light of construction of four laning project and Sawalakote Hydro power project as low lying areas coming under submergence in dam .

Tehsildar Ramban was directed to provide revenue papers and other assistance to consultants.

The consultants of NF Infratech Service Pvt, Ltd. New Delhi gave a power point presentation on the draft master plan for Ramban town which was prepared after considering detailed survey of the existing infrastructure, road networks, business establishments, geographical attributes, demographic set up, tourist sites, forest cover, condition of the land and ongoing development activities in the town and adjoining areas.

The draft plan includes overall socio-economic development of area, exploration and preservation of tourist places, focusing water bodies to put restriction on illegal construction and encroachments.
