DDC Ganderbal reviews implementation of Scholarship schemes

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 04: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla today convened a meeting of officers of Education and Social Welfare Departments to review the implementation of various scholarship schemes here.

During the meeting, District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal presented an overview of various welfare schemes and scholarship programmes being implemented in the district.

The DDC stressed upon the officers of the department to identify the deserving beneficiaries so that the benefit goes to the most deserving.

While reviewing various scholarship schemes like post, pre-matric scholarship schemes for minority students, Dr Ambedkar Pre and Post Matric Scholarship for Denitrified Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Pre and Post Matric Scholarship schemes for students with disabilities, the DDC urged for generating greater awareness among the students by organizing awareness camps both at school and college level regarding the schemes implemented by the state and central government.

District Social Welfare officer was directed for taking more steps towards ensuring maximum publicity and awareness about opening and closing dates of National Scholarship Portal (NSP) through print & electronic media.

All institution heads were directed to create scholarship cell in their respective schools for generating awareness among the students and nominate a nodal officer for the scholarship.

Dr Singla directed the concerned officers to organize awareness camps in rural and far-flung areas to make aware the people about the various scholarship schemes of the state. He said that the main motive of the scholarship schemes is to work for socio-economical emancipation of underprivileged section of the society and stressed on effective implementation of the schemes.

District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal, Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Principal Degree College Kangan and Ganderbal, Principal Polytechnic College Ganderbal and various other heads of Institutions were present in the meeting.
