Jammu : Blast at school in Doda, Principal among 2 injured

A low-intensity explosion took place at a school in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

According to the reports, the school principal and another staff member were injured in the blast.

Hoshyar Singh Principal of Government Higher Secondary School & a Lady Staff member got injured when a mysterious blast took place inside the room of the principal in Doda.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Explosive Substance Act and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team from Jammu rushed to the spot.

While the principal was seriously injured in the blast, another staff member Sharifa Begum suffered minor burn injuries.

SSP Doda Muhammad Shabir Khatana said the furniture in the room had also caught fire due to the blast. “Both the injured were shifted to District Hospital Doda for treatment,” said Khatana.

However, Singh who has sustained serious injuries in the blast was shifted to Narayana Super Speciality Hospital Katra for further treatment. His condition is stated to be stable as of now.

The police informed that blast occurred at around 0920 hours in which Principal and one staff member identified as Sharifa got injured and some of the furniture items also caught fire.
