Shopian: At least 16 para-commandos of the army were injured in a road accident in southern Shopian district on Friday night, the police said. A police official said a private vehicle ferrying soldiers of army’s 23 PARA to Balpora base camp skidded off the road while negotiating a curve in Kanipora village, causing injuries to 16 soldiers.
Some of the grievously injured, according to the official, were immediately evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar after a rescue team rushed to the spot.
