Barnala, December 7: Two Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) of Punjab Police were killed near Handiaya town of Barnala district when their car hit a truck from behind.
They have been identified as Malkiat Singh and Gurmeet Singh. Two other ASIs–Sadhu Singh and Rachpal Singh–have been injured.
“All four ASIs were going to Patiala for work from Muktsar. But when they reached near Handiaya, the driver of a truck applied brakes and their car hit it from behind. Malkiat and Gurmeet died on the spot,” said Manjit Singh, SHO of Barnala city 2 police station.
