Srinagar, Sep 8: A two-day workshop aimed at creating awareness about drug abuse was held at Drug De-Addiction Centre SMHS here.
An official statement issued to media said the workshop, organized by the Department of Psychiatry, IMHANS, was attended by the officers of the CID and crime branch of the state.
More than 40 officers from the districts of Jammu, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Rajouri, Kishtawar, Budgam and Ramban attended the workshop.
Aimed at creating awareness and sensitizing the attendees about the drug abuse, the workshop included interactive sessions and presentations about identification of substance use disorders, providing basic counselling and making necessary referrals for further management of these disorders, the statement said.
A discussion about the better understanding of role and responsibilities of law enforcement agencies regarding the patients with drug use disorders also took place.
An insight oriented session on NDPS Act by Kamlesh Pandita, Additional and Sessions Judge, Srinagar was experienced as very informative by the attendees.
