Prioritize speedy disposal of contempt cases: Secy Law to officers

JAMMU, DECEMBER 7: Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Achal Sethi, today reviewed status of contempt cases here at a meeting of law officers posted in different departments.

At the meeting held on the directions of Chief Secretary, the Law officers were enjoined upon to prioritise the contempt cases and make all possible efforts to get the contempt petitions disposed of to avoid adverse orders from the Court(s).

Sethi implored upon officers to keep the law department posted about the progress in each and every contempt case on an urgent basis. Any lackadaisical approach in handling the case will be taken seriously and may entail departmental action, he added.

It was also impressed upon the officers to compile data of such cases and forward the same to law department for monitoring of these cases.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries of Law Department, DLRs other senior officers.
