BANDIPORA: Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the special summary revision of electoral rolls 2019 in the Sonawari constituency of Bandipora district in view of the upcoming Panchayat elections.
The meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer Rafiq Ahmad Lone, SDM Sumbal, Supervisors, Block Level Officers, various district officials and polling staff.
During the meeting, ADC impressed upon the Electoral Roll Observer (EROs) and AERO’S to monitor the progress of enrollments so that all eligible electors are registered in the Electoral Rolls. He urged the officials to widen the inclusion of voters in the voter list and create awareness among the general public regarding democracy at the grassroot level.
While reviewing the percentage of inclusions in the roll, the ADC called for expediting the process of updating the Electoral rolls by November 15. He stressed for implementation of the guidelines of ECI in letter and spirit and said that the cent percent enrollment of the voters in the district should be made so that every eligible voter can get his democratic right.
The meeting was informed that the physical verification of electoral rolls and subsequent inclusion and deletion of voters have been completed while currently, the process of online updation is in process. He urged the concerned technical staff to assist the BLOs to complete the process within the given time frame.
Earlier a special training session was also held for the polling staff which was attended by Nodal Officer Training Management, Mohammad Rafiq Parray and District Master Trainer Mohammad Iqbal Samoon.
The polling staff were informed about the process of polling including collection of material, different steps to be followed during polling to ensure secrecy, powers and duties of the presiding officers, handling of ballot boxes and allied papers, counting of votes and other processes and procedures to be adopted for the smooth conduct of Panchayat elections.
