A mother of three children was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by three persons in Kathua district, last late evening.
The incident came to light on Friday when the victim, a mother of three, was admitted to the Kathua district hospital.
Police quoting the victim said that she went out in the fields to attend natural call during late evening hours yesterday when three people abducted her. “They took me away from the fields at Shabe Chak village. They threatened me with an axe to not raise alarm,” said the victim.
“They allegedly gang-raped me and I can identify one of them as two others had covered their faces with cloth”, said victim. She further said that they repeatedly threatened me to kill like one person whom they claimed to have killed and I fear for my life. The accused told me they had recently murdered a villager.
“As I tried to escape from their clutches one of the rapists attacked me with axe, resulting injuries in my leg”, alleged victim. The gang-rape victim said that she cried for help loudly compelling the accused to flee from the spot, when villagers rushed to there to rescue the victim.
Villagers shifted her to the hospital and informed her husband, who was not present in the house.
She identified one of the culprits as Balbir Singh of Salalpur village, while the identity of the others is yet to be ascertained.
The other two accused were later identified by police as Kulvinder Kumar @Nanku son of Paras Ram and Ganesh son of Daulat Ram—both residents of Salalpur.
“We have recorded the victim’s statement following which a rape case FIR No 194/2018 under section 376, 323 RPC has been registered against the accused persons,” said a senior police officer.
Police has, however, secured the arrest of one accused namely Balbir Singh while hunt to nab the other absconding persons is in progress.
The medical examination of the woman has been conducted and raids are being conducted by the police to arrest the absconding persons.
