The Congress Policy Planning Group today visited Kargil District to meet cross sections of people to get to know their views on socio political scenario obtaining in the Ladakh division especially in Kargil district, a Congress spokesman said.
He said the group was led by former union home minister P. Chidambaram. “The group met various deputations from all over Kargil district. The delegations briefed the PPG about the socio-political scenario and other issues pertaining to overall development of the region. Many important issues of public importance also came under discussion,” he added.
The group comprises former chief minister and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad, state Congress chief G A Mir and former MP Tariq Hamid Karra.
The deputations who called on Congress Policy Planning group included Hill Council Kargil, Bar Association Kargil, Ahli Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Buddhist Association of Kargil, Sikh Minority, Hindu Minority, Merchant Association, EJAC Kargil, Imam Khomeni Memorial Trust, DCC Kargil, Zanaskar Sub Division and various other deputations.
It may be recalled that the group had earlier visited Jammu and then Kashmir division under the leadership of Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, this time the Group is headed by P Chidambaram.
The CPPG is scheduled to leave for Leh district on Monday where it will also meet various deputations, the spokesman added.
