CLP leader Kiran Choudhry addresses a rally in Nalwa Assembly segment of Hisar district

Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhry on Sunday alleged that INLD supremo and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala was responsible for the delay in implementation of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal.

Addressing a ‘Vichar Chetna’ rally at Chaudhariwas village of Nalwa Assembly segment here, the CLP leader, who is MLA from neighbouring Tosham Assembly segment, Kiran said that Chautala failed to press upon his counterpart in Punjab Parkash Singh Badal when he was the Chief Minister in 2002 for the construction the SYL canal despite a favourable decision of the Supreme Court.
She said that former Chief Minister Bansi Lal had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to protect the interests of Haryana and to demand due share in the SYL waters for farmers of the state.

The Congress leader said that the southern parts of the state had been suffering on account of denial of the due share of water for many decades. She promises that if the Congress comes to power in the next Assembly elections, she would press for equitable distribution of Bhakra waters for Hisar, Bhiwani, Mahendergarh farmers.

She alleged that the BJP government had failed to implement any of its pre-poll promises and spending public money on hollow advertisement campaigns in the state.
