Key accused in manager murder case held

Faridabad: The crime branch of the local police has arrested a person who had allegedly shot a senior manager of a private company here on November 9.

The accused, identified as Vishwas Pandey, hailing from Allahabad (Prayagraj) of UP, had allegedly shot the victim, Arindam Pal, an official of the Tata Steel Company here in NIT out of revenge. Vishwas, who had barged into Pal’s office, had pumped several bullets into him before escaping from the spot. The victim has succumbed to his injuries before he could be rushed to the hospital. The main cause of the murder is stated to be an enmity which the accused had developed after his dismissal from the service of the company.

The accused has told the police that he had planned to murder Arindam Pal and two other employees of the company, whom he believed to be involved in a conspiracy to oust him from the company. Vishwas had lost his job in August this year.

The police, who had launched a manhunt and tracked his movement, managed to arrest the accused from a park in Sector- 48 here on Saturday night.

“He was planning to move abroad on November 15, as he had landed a job in Singapore recently,” said Vimal Kumar, Inspector, Crime Branch, Sector- 17. He said the accused had bought a revolver last month and had practiced firing a few days ago before he came here to take the revenge. He had been residing in Delhi for the past few months, it is learnt. The accused has been remanded to three days in police custody by the local court.
