Two men snatched Rs 5 lakh from a cash van of Axis Bank near Ghabdan village on Friday.
Robbers also fired at gunman Sukhpal Singh, who was injured and was admitted to the civil hospital here.
The cash van was on its way from Sangrur to Bhawanigarh.
SSP Sandeep Garg and other senior police officials rushed to the spot.
Garg said they had sealed the routes of the area; special police teams had been formed to nab the accused.
