The #MeToo movement gained momentum in India after Tanushree Dutta levelled allegations of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar. She claimed that he tried to get too close for comfort on the sets of the 2008 film Horn Ok Pleassss.
Soon, women from all works of life came forward with their horrific experiences, and fingers were also pointed at Bollywood personalities. At least three women accused filmmaker Sajid Khan of serious sexual misconduct, ranging from pulling his p***s out during interactions to asking actresses to strip for him.
In the wake of the allegations against him, Sajid stepped down as the director of Housefull 4 “till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth”.
Now, Nana has also quit the film. His son, Malhar Patekar, told ANI, “Nana saheb thought of the convenience of everybody as he wishes the best for the producer and the crew and hence felt that stepping out of the project would be an appropriate thing to do at this point of time.”

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar, who stars in Housefull 4, took to Twitter to announce that he “will not work with any proven offenders”. Riteish Deshmukh seconded Akshay’s stand and said that he was deeply disturbed by the accounts of the women who had to go through sexual harassment and assault.
