Leh religious, political bodies favour Divisional Status for Ladakh

LEH: Religious and political leaders of Leh held a meeting in the office of Ladakh Buddhist Association to discuss the issue of grating Divisional Status for Ladakh.
The meeting unanimously passed solution with all stakeholders welcoming the grant of Divisional Status to Ladakh.
“The administrative set-up as a division should have been granted much before as Ladakh has always been kept under Kashmir Division though it has been accepted as a region in Jammu and Kashmir constitutional assembly and it is our legitimate right since Independence,” said an official release issued from LBA office. It added that in the meeting members desired that in the event of granting Divisional status to Ladakh, the interest of the people of Ladakh should remain protected.
The meeting was attended by President Ladakh Buddhist Association Tsewang Thinles, President Anjuman Imamia Ashraf Barcha, President, Anjuman Moin ul Islam, Dr Abdul Qayum, President, Christian Association David Sonam, President National Conference Leh Tsering Angchuk, President District Congress Committee Leh, Tsering Namgyal, President Peoples Democratic Party Leh Tashi Gyalson, General Secretary Bharatiya Janata Party Leh Nawang Samstan and Vice Presidents LBA, P.T Kunzang and Rinchen Namgyal.
