A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old youth in a remote village of Tharali in Chamoli district on July 12.
The police said the accused, a resident of Nala Bajwar village, took the child to a shop, saying he would get her sweets. On finding the shopkeeper away, the youth took the child at the rear of the shop and raped her. The child then narrated the incident to her mother.
An FIR has been filed. The police are on the lookout for the accused.
