KULGAM, OCTOBER, 15: District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Shamim Ahmad Wani today chaired a meeting to take stock of the arrangements made for smooth conduct of annual Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Simnani(RA).
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Exens of PDD R&B, EO of MC, ARTO and other district and sectoral officers besides representatives of Wakaf.
During the meeting, DDC directed PHE and PDD departments to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the town and vicinity areas during the Urs days. The EO of Municipality Kulgam was directed to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness and ensure regular lifting of garbage from the Shrine area.
Regarding medical facilities during Urs days, the department of health was directed to establish medical camps equipped with fully trained medical staff and emergency aid besides in and around the Shrine premises particularly in the areas were a huge gathering of devotees is expected to assemble and to depute ambulances.
Emphasizing the need for pre and post Urs sanitation drives, the DDC directed the concerned to intensify the cleanliness drive with the focus on roads, lanes, drains, besides regular lifting of garbage/wastage from all identified spots.
Directions were passed on concerned officers for providing hassle free transport to devotees and to chalk out plan to curb traffic jams in the vicinity of Ziyarat shareef.
