Home Minister Rajnath Singh Thursday said that he agrees with former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s remarks that his country cannot manage Kashmir. “Baat to thik kaha unhone. Woh Pakistan nahi sambhal pa rahe, Kashmir kya sambhal paayenge. Kashmir Bharat ka part tha, hai, aur rahega, (What he has said is right. They are not able to manage Pakistan, how could they manage Kashmir. Kashmir is a part of India and shall remain so),” ANI quoted the Home minister as saying.

Afridi had on Wednesday stirred a hornet’s nest when he said “Pakistan doesn’t need Kashmir, as it cannot manage its own four provinces” and imposed that Kashmir be given “independence”

In a viral video of his address to students in London, Afridi, also known as “Boom Boom”, is heard saying that Pakistan is not interested in Kashmir and since the country is against giving it to India, the region should be given independence. “I say Pakistan doesn’t want Kashmir. Don’t give it to India either. Let Kashmir be independent. At least humanity will be alive. Let people not die,” he said.

“Pakistan doesn’t want Kashmir. It can’t even manage its four provinces. The big thing is insaaniyat (humanity). People who are dying there, it is painful. Any death, be it from any community, is painful,” Afridi said.
