JAMMU, DECEMBER 15: Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Manzoor Ahmad Lone today inaugurated ‘Hi-Tech Net Shed’ for Exotic Vegetables here at village PanotraChak (Mandal).
Secretary was accompanied by Director of Agriculture, Jammu H. K. Razdan, Director Horticulture, Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Srangal, Director Command Area Development S. Jatinder Singh, Managing Director Agro Industries, Bhawani Rakwal.
During his visit, the Secretary inspected various exotic vegetables crops like Broccoli, Lettuce, Zucchini and Cucumber being grown at using latest technological know-how.
Interacting with the local farmers, Secretary inquired about the cost benefit ratio and marketing aspects of exotic vegetables in Jammu. He stressed on involving the educated and motivated youths for establishing the Hi-tech cultivation of vegetables and discussed the bottlenecks being faced as well as future course of action in the project formation.
It was given out that the Net Shed spread over an area of 4000 Sq mts is the first initiative of its kind in the state and has been set up under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) with the Technical Guidance of the Department of Agriculture.
Director Agriculture on the occasion said that the Department is committed to give full help to promote the shade net and poly house cultivation under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) like RKVY and MIDH for the cultivation of vegetables under controlled conditions to get around the year production with assured returns which will help in increasing the Farm Income.
