Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu observes Annual Sports Meet “UDAAN”

Sports is not only the best way to refresh and rejuvenate ourselves, it is an exercise in self-discovery as well. Be it team sports, track events, or anything else, every sport we try has a way of bringing forth the true itself. Inspired by the truth, Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated its Annual Sports Meet UDAAN-V “MARUSHIKA” wherein our endeavor to give experiential learning came into life. The most awaited event was on 16th Dec’2018 for senior wing. The day was consecrated in the presence of Mr.S.P Vaid(IPS), Transport Commissioner J&K as Chief Guest who is a well acclaimed person, Mr.Ranjeet Kalra (Former Cricketer, Advisor for Sports & Youth affair Government of Lakshadweep) an eminent personality as Guest of Honour and Mr.Gaurav Gupta(Barefoot runner & Secretary CCI), S.Bana Singh (PVC Recipient), S.Palbinder Singh(Kho-Kho International Player represented India –Gold medalist), Mr.Shubham Bhau(Kho-Kho International Player represented India –Gold medalist), S.Rajinder Singh (Common Wealth Fames Wushu, World Cup Asian games), Ms.Shreya Gupta(International Common Wealth Junior & cadet fencing- Bronze medal(U-17), Mr.Ram Singh Slathia (Everester) as Special Invitees. Principals from various institutions, Chairperson Mr.Harpreet Singh Anand along with other members from management also graced the occasion.

The event embarked with the welcome address by Head Girl of the school Rohini Sharma followed by Balloon releasing ceremony to mark the commencement of the event. Sub sequentially the OLYMPIC LIGHT was lighted by our Sports Captain who manifested the ignition of fire to achieve the goals.In Annual report, Principal cum Vice-Chairperson Ms.Rohini Aima, spotlighted the achievements of the students which brought laurels on State as well as at National level. She also expressed her gratitude to the management and staff for their support.

The main highlights of the event were 100mtr race, 200 & 400mtr relay races by senior students. The students also enthralled the audience with their fun-filled races which included one leg race, matka race, hurdle race and many more. The special attraction of the show was the demonstration of the aerobic performances and Yoga which were indeed captivating. The students also displayed wide array of colorful and reverberant events which mesmerized the audience. The main attraction of the event was GRAND FINALE garrisoned on the theme of Freedom struggle. The pique of the show was the announcement of the House Trophy winner which eventually belonged to WISDOM House.

Special invites from various Sports fields were felicitated and honoured with Shawls & mementoes. It is pertinent to mention that the Chief Guest in his key note address emphasized that this day always remained indelible throughout a child life and he also applauded the hard work put in by the management, staff and students for show casing their talent. Meritorious students in various fields of Sports & Games were felicitated with Trophies & medals by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour & Special invitees.

The performances reaped many laurels one by one and the day was ceased with the vote of thanks conveyed by Ms.Avneet Kour (Senior wing Coordinator) who thanked all the dignitaries for sparing their precious time to grace the occasion and the day ended with the National Anthem.
