Trapped in submerged car, family of 4 saved by locals in a miraculous rescue in Navi Mumbai’s Taloja

According to media reports, the incident took place in the Ghotgaon area of Taloja on Monday afternoon when the family’s car was caught in the river water. Four people – 37-year-old Ashraf Khalil Shaikh, his wife Hamida and two children – were travelling in the car when it slipped off the bridge due to heavy rain in the area.

As they called for help, locals came to their rescue and threw a rope. All occupants of the car were brought to safety one by one before the car could be washed away.

Police said that the family was helped by local residents Narayan Gangaram Patil, Lahu Narayan Patil, Laxman Waman Dhumal, Tulsiram Baliram Nighudkarav, Rupesh Rama Patil.

The passengers of the car received only minor injuries and they went home after receiving first aid, a local police officer said.
