Srinagar, Oct 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Police paid floral tribute to a jawan of Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, who was killed in an encounter with militants in this summer capital, on Wednesday.
A Police Spokesperson said a wreath laying ceremony was held at the District Police Lines (DPL) here, to pay homage to the martyr, identified as Kamal Kishor, who was killed while fighting valiantly against the militants at Syed Ali Akar in Fatehkadal, downtown. The militants were also killed in the encounter.
He said civil and police officers, led by Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh, laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyr. ”The slain jawan has been identified as Kamal Kishor, a resident of Reasi in Jammu region,” he said.
Meanwhile, four security forces personnel, including two SOG and as many CRPF jawans, were injured in the exchange of fire.
