ASI found dead at Kisan Bhawan room

Chandigarh, December 16: A 44-year-old Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was found dead at a room in Kisan Bhawan, Sector 35, this morning. The ASI was staying there along with two other colleagues.

Sources said the victim, identified as Jaswinder Singh, was staying in a room on the second floor along with his colleagues. The victim had gone to a hotel in the Industrial Area for a function on Saturday night after which he arrived at midnight and went to sleep. Jaswinder did not wake up in the morning after which his colleagues informed the local police about the incident.

The victim was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The victim was posted as a driver with a senior officer.

Jaswinder hailed from Pathankot district and is survived by his wife and children.

The police said the victim’s family had been informed about the incident. The autopsy was conducted. An investigation has been initiated into the matter at the Sector 36 police station. A CFSL team visited the spot for an inspection.

The police said the cause of death would be known after the postmortem report.
