Buddha Amarnath Yatra arrangements reviewed

POONCH, JULY 18: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav today reviewed the arrangements for Annual Buddha Amarnath Yatra 2018 here at a meeting of officers and representatives of religious organizations.

After threadbare discussion, the meeting chalked out action plan for security, power supply, medical and transport facilities, drinking water, accommodation and sanitation along the route and at the halt points.

The meeting was informed that the yatra will commence on August 17 and the first batch will arrive at Buddha Amarnath on August 18.

The Yatra will culminate on August 24 with the departure of ‘Chari Mubarakh’ from Shri Dashnami Akhara Poonch.

The meeting was attended by SSP Rajiv Panday, ADC Dr. Basharat Hussain, SDMs and Tehsildars, members of Budha Amarnath Yatra Committee, representatives of Dashnami Akhara and members of civil society.

It was informed that the facilities for the pilgrims will be provided by different ‘SewaSamities’ enroute from BhimberGali to Buddha Amarnath. It was further informed that yatra officer have been designated at SewaSamities.

The DC exhorted upon the concerned Departments and religious organisations to work in coordination to ensure foolproof arrangements for the smooth and successful conduct of the yatra.

The provision for uninterrupted power supply and adequate drinking water was discussed with the engineers of PDD and PHE.

Stressing on sanitation and cleanliness, the DDC asked Municipal authorities to arrange dustbin and temporary toilet facilities at all the langer sites.

Traffic department was asked to ensure free flow of traffic during the Yatra. The ARTO was directed to make arrangements for contingency vehicles to meet emergency situation.

Chief Medical Officer was directed to make arrangements of mobile medical camps at identified places and ambulance facilities from BhimberGali to Buddha Amarnath Mandi.

The meeting was informed that a control room would be setup to for coordinated management of arrangements by the concerned departments.
