New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday greeted the nation on the occasion of Vijayadashmi and Durga Puja. Later in the day, both will attend the ‘Ravan Dahan’ function at Luv Kush Ramlila organised at Lal Quila Maidan around 5:30 PM.
“On the occasion of Durga Puja and Vijayadashmi, Dusshera greetings and Shubho Bijoya to fellow citizens. This is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. May the day bring happiness to our families and our shared society,” the President tweeted.
On the other hand, PM Modi took to Twitter and a video of Dussehra celebrations along with the message, which read, “Vijayadashami greetings to everyone.”

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also extended warm wishes on the occasion. “Happy Dussehra to each and every one of you!” he posted on his official Twitter handle.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also Dussehra and Durga Puja greetings, among others.
Vijayadashmi, also called Dussehra, marks the culmination of the 10-day long Navratri festival, in which Goddess Durga is worshipped. It is also celebrated as a festival of victory of good over evil as belief says that Lord Rama defeated Ravana on this day.
