Amritsar Blast: Punjab Police Arrests Two Suspects From Bhatinda in Connection With Attack

In a major breakthrough in Amritsar blast case, Punjab police today arrested two suspects during the raids. The police have also detained few people having links to separatist organisations in connection with the blast at Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar’s Rajasansi village which claimed lives of three people. According to reports, Punjab police suspects Pakistan-based Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) leader Harmeet Singh ‘PhD’ to be the main conspirator behind the attack.

Yesterday, during his visit to the blast site, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh claimed that initial investigation pointed to the involvement of Pakistan in the attack. The chief minister said that the grenades used in the blast were similar to the ones being manufactured by Pakistan ordinance factory. The chief minister also announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh for giving information leading to the arrest of the attackers. The three-member team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the site on Sunday. The blast was carried out just days after former Hizbul Mujahideen commander and founder and chief of Al-Qaeda cell Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind Zakir Moosa was spotted in Amritsar. The state police also released the posters of the terrorist. Earlier in the Month, Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat also warned that external forces are trying to disrupt peace in the state.
