SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 20: The Disaster Management preparedness programme was held here today at town hall Shopian by the District Disaster Management Authority Shopian in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Shopian said that aim of organizing such programme is to acquaint the public in general and youth in particular about the Civil Defense activities and disaster management to minimize the loss of human lives and property during the disaster.
He said disaster management is a collective term encompassing all aspects of planning for the responding to emergencies and disaster including both pre and post event activities. It refers to the management of both the risk and consequences of any kind of disaster.
On the occasion, Naib tehsildars, officials of district administration and other concerned were also present.
During the awareness camp volunteers, general masses and officials were trained about the preparedness, mitigation and response in case of disasters.
