Sanjjeev Rajput continued India’s brilliant run in shooting at the Asian Games 2018 as he won silver in the 50m Rifle 3 positions final on Tuesday with a score of 452.7.
Earlier, The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games gold medalist struggled in the standing position, but good shows in kneeling and prone booked his spot in the final with 1160.
China’s Zicheng Hui won gold, while Japan’s Takayuki Matsumoto bagged bronze medal.
The 37-year old is a veteran of the sport with a bronze medal in the same category at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. Rajput has also enjoyed a great run of form at the Commonwealth Games where he won silver in 2014 and bronze in 2006.
In Trap Mixed Team, the team of Lakshay & Shreyasi Singh qualified for the final with a score of 142. The Indian duo shot 46, 49, 47 in the three rounds to book their spot in the summit clash.
India started Day 3 with two medals in shooting as Saurabh Chaudhary produced an Asian Games record score of 240.7 to clinch the gold in Men’s 10m Air Pistol final while Abhishek Verma won the bronze with a score of 219.3.
Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar opened the account with a bronze in 10m Air Rifle Team event, Deepak Kumar won silver in 10m Air Rifle individual event and 18-year old Lakshay clinched the silver medal in Men’s Trap.
