The Punjab cabinet on Tuesday approved the draft of the bill on increasing punishment in sacrilege cases pertaining to all religions. The amended bill will be tabled in the coming Assembly session.

During the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh termed the act of Local Bodies Minister Navjot Sidhu hugging the Pakistani Army chief as “not a nice gesture that was completely avoidable”.

No cabinet minister vouched for Sidhu as he gave his explanation.
