Rewari: Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi regarding the demand of establishing AIIMS in Manethi village, rapidly depleting water table in South Haryana and defence university at Binola village (Gurguram).

Rao informed the PM that residents of various villages had been staging an indefinite dharna in Manethi village for the past three months for the fulfilment of the CM’s promise about the setting up of AIIMS there. The CM had announced the same three years ago, but nothing had yet been done in this respect, he added.

“After listening to the issues, the PM not only gave a positive response towards the demand of AIIMS in Manethi but also sought a report from the authorities concerned in this respect. I also apprised him of the depleting water table in South Haryana and asked him to resolve the issue under a special scheme,” said Rao.

He said the PM was also told that water-table had gone down over 2,000 feet in some parts of South Haryana, making locals struggle for potable water. Farmers had to face many hardships in farming due to the scarcity of water, the minister added.

“I also discussed with the PM about the nation’s first defence university in Binola village (Gurugram) and demanded from him to get the Act for establishing the university passed in the Lok sabha so that it could be set up at the earliest. The PM assured me of taking steps in this direction soon,” said Rao.
