Anganwadi workers and helpers on Tuesday again staged a protest to raise their demands .

“We are protesting for the last 4 months but there is no response from the authorities,” they said.

Scores of Anganwadi workers and helpers under the banner of J&K Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association marched in inner lanes of Press Enclave holding banners amid slogans.

“It is very unfortunate that we get only Rs 600 honorarium while our counterparts in other states get Rs four to five thousand from  their government,” Tasleema Subhan, President of the association, said.

They also demanded retirement incentives. “Why won’t government provide us incentives? Many of us are widows and where will we go after retirement”, asked the Anganwadi workers.
