Troops foil infiltration bid in Karnah sector in J&K

Srinagar, Sep 22: Troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Karnah sector in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said.

They said security forces during a routine patrolling near the LoC in Karnah sector noticed a group of militants trying to sneak into this side from PoK under the cover of darkness early on Saturday morning.

Sources said when challenged militants who escaped. However, it was not immediately clear whether they fled back to PoK or still in the dense forest, they said adding the entire area has been cordoned off and a massive search operation has been launched to nab them.

Five militants were killed by security forces durig 24 hours Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on Friday.

A large number of militants are waiting in launch pads near LoC in PoK to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall. However, troops are on high alert to foil any such attempt, sources said.
