Patiala, October 22: As many as 23 people were injured as a speeding Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus rammed a truck on the Banur-Chandigarh road here on Monday morning.
Officials said the injured included four women, students and office-goers. The accident took place near Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital around 8 am.
The bus was on its way from Chandigarh to Rajpura.
Police said the injured had been taken to various hospitals. “Of the 23 injured one was shifted to Max Hospital in Mohali and two to the PGI, Chandigarh, as their condition was critical,” said DSP KK Panthey.
He said 17 people were shifted to Neelam Hospital in Rajpura while three were sent to AP Jain Hospital.
The police said the driver was driving the bus rashly. “The bus rammed a truck parked on the road and overturned,” the police said.
A case of negligent and rash driving has been registered against the bus driver.
