Chandigarh: A fire broke out at the garbage dumping site in Dadu Majra here on wednesday evening, causing problems to people living in the areas nearby.
According to the information available, the fire and emergency wing of the Municipal Corporation received a call about the fire mishap at the dumping ground at 5:48 pm, following which two fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze in two hours.
Dyal Krishan, president of the Joint Action Committee, said nothing had been done to improve the condition of the dumping ground so far.
Last year also, there was a fire incident at the dumping ground. The civic body has failed to check occurrence of such incidents.
