New Delhi, November 22: The Union Cabinet has okayed the construction of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. The construction is to be done from Dera Baba Nanak to the international border.

Sources said that according to the cabinet decision, the government would build the Kartarpur coridor till the International Border. The government has also urged the Pakistan government to do the same on its side and to respect the sentiments of Sikhs.

The cabinet briefing is currently on, where details are being given.
Union Food Processing Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal welcomed the Union Cabinet’s decision to build the corridor on the Indian side, and hoped Pakistan would also cooperate.

She described the cabinet’s decision as historic, and in keeping with the sentiments of Sikhs. The SAD had been demanding for long for the corridor to Kartarpur with which Guru Nanak was associated for 18 years.

She said Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had claimed that the Pakistan government had decided to open the corridor for Sikh pilgrims to visit Kartarpur Sahib following his visit to the country for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

She said, “Now Pakistan will have to walk the talk.”
