Shimla: There will be mellow sunshine and no snowfall on Christmas in the Queen of Hills this year as the Met department on Friday predicted clear skies for the next 10 days.
The minimum temperature in the state capital is higher than Delhi and most other cities in the plains. Bilaspur was colder than Shimla as it recorded a minimum of 3.2°C while Una recorded 2.8°C, Nahan 4.7°C, Hamirpur 3.6°C and Solan 0.2°C. The minimum temperature in Keylong was recorded at -7.6°C, Kalpa -3.4°C and Manali -1.4°C. Director of the local Meteorological centre Manmohan Singh said there was no possibility of rain or snow during the next eight to 10 days as there was no significant western disturbance influencing the area.
With bright sunshine, there has been an increase in the maximum temperature in the capital city as the mercury soared to 16.2°C. The minimum temperature on Friday was recorded at 5.5°C.
With the city and most other parts of the state reeling under severe cold wave conditions in the last few days, it was being expected that the town could experience snow around Christmas and New Year.
As per the forecast, there will be clear skies and warm days till December 27.
On the other hand, the arrival of tourists in Shimla hotels was quite good.
