A gunfight raged between militants and security forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday morning, the police said.
The gunfight erupted at Aripal village in Tral, over 55 km from Srinagar, when joint teams of forces started a cordon and search operation after an input about militant presence.
“As the forces were searching the area, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight,” a police officer said.
The operation is jointly being carried by 42 RR of the Army, J&K Police and 180 Battalion of the CRPF.
